National Player Relationship Manager (Rugby & Professional Sport)

An established professional rugby player management organisation is seeking to permanently employ a National Player Relationship Manager in Cape Town. The main objective of this role will be to build and maintain strong and proficient relationships between the organization and its players and be the first point off call for the general services the organisation offers to its players.

General Responsibilities

  • Conduct visits and roadshows to players/unions/franchises.
  • Promote and explain all benefit partner deals to its players via various communication channels.
  • Attend to general player and agent enquiries.
  • General monitoring of the application and enforcement of the various commercial agreement in place that affect the players & its members.
  • Manage and attend disciplinary hearings with and for its players.
  • Arrange and manage all charity fund activations.
  • Manage the commercial and industrial membership database.
  • Manage database for all appearances made by players as well as player minutes and associated stats.

Financial Services Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of call between players and the Financial Services division of the organisation.
  • Manage pension fund enquiries, statements, options, and communications.
  • Manage GAP cover claims, administration tasks and communications.
  • Injury insurance - communicate and assist Insurer with players’ underwriting requirements and feedback.
  • Attend financial services compliance and audit meetings.
  • Attend ad-hoc product/industry training seminars and comply with financial services CPD requirements.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Commerce, Social Science, or equivalent will be highly desirable, but relevant skills & experience will be considered.
  • A completed RE5 qualification will be a major advantage, but not essential. This qualification can be completed within the first 6 months of employment in this role.
  • Relevant experience in one or all the above-mentioned responsibilities, including player management, player representation, financial services (long- and short-term insurance) and or professional rugby playing or sport background.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presenting communication skills.
  • Fluent verbal communication skills in Xhosa or Zulu
  • Ability to travel both locally and internationally from time to time.
  • A big interest in rugby and passion for sport and people.
  • Valid driver’s licence and own transport is essential.

Remuneration - R500,000 to R800,000 CTC per annum, fully dependant on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
