A sports management organisation is seeking to permanently employ an Industrial Psychologist with solid personal, professional and career development experience, to be based in Bellville, Cape Town.

The main responsibility of this role will be the management of the development programs that focus on the holistic personal, professional and career development of all the sport professionals contracted by this organisation.

  • Development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of all the pillars of the development program;
  • Annual needs/skills analysis;
  • Management of regional Development Managers who implements and delivers on the development program in designated regions;
  • Management of the divisional development budget;
  • Establishment, management, and maintenance of strategic partnerships with benefit partners

This program covers the following pillars: (1) Career and Education; (2) Personal Mastery; (3) Mental Health; (4) Life Skills; (5) Vulnerabilities and; (6) Transition; and duties include the following:

Personal Mastery

  • 1-on-1 coaching meetings with athletes
  • The drawing up or updating of a Personal Development Plans
  • The use of psychometric assessments for personal development purposes

 Career and Education

  • Dual career planning and support
  • Career Guidance
  • Management of the organisation’s bursary program
  • Creation and delivery of workplace readiness material and workshops
  • Management of job shadowing and internship opportunities

 Mental Health

  • Provide access to specialist support and counselling
  • Coordination of specific mental health support programs
  • Management of mental health data, projects and initiatives

 Life Skills & Vulnerabilities

  • Provision of training interventions in a personal or group setting
  • Development of training material
  • Facilitating workshops
  • Arranging workshops with external partners

 Requirements

  • Applicable Master’s degree with Psychology / Industrial Psychology.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a psychologist/psychometrist.
  • 3 years minimum relevant experience in a similar role or job function, but ideally 5 to 8 years in a relevant role.
  • Experience in a sporting environment will be highly desirable, but it will not at all essential.
  • Must be willing to travel regularly, up to twice a month for a day or two at a time.

Remuneration

  • R500k to R680k per annum basic CTC, negotiable and dependant on skills, experience, and qualifications.
