A career and skills development division of a Cape Town based Tech Incubator NGO is seeking to appoint a Data Insight Analyst to join their team on a permanent basis. This organisation develops and manages innovative tech training and experiential learning programmes that focus on both technical and professional development.

The Data Insight Analyst will contribute to the success of organisation by utilising advanced data analysis skills to evaluate and understand the incubator and funder requirements, targets and forecasts throughout the projects lifecycles plus deliver targeted and actionable data driven insight that keeps the organisations performance on track towards success.

Salary Range:        R30 000 – R50 000 pm, dependant on experience.    

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification - degree or equivalent desirable

Preferred Skills

  • 5 years’ experience monitoring, manipulating and drawing insights from data.


  • Provide leadership of all tasks relating to data collection and insights, collaborating with all relevant team members and ensuring that data is gathered in an accurate, evidenced and usable format.
  • Develop data reputation by providing high quality data insights on time and with accuracy.
  • Undertake data analysis and data dissemination of multiple data points relating to candidates, training, outcomes, internships, placements, alumni, candidate contracts, people statistics, success measures, surveys, feedback, etc.
  • Lead initiatives on market demand research and evaluation as well as create output reports that drive innovation in the youth training and employment sector.
  • Manage inter team communications ensuring that standard operating procedures and ways of working are established and followed to the letter.
  • Provide input to high-level communication, proposals, presentations and reports using data visualisations.
  • Identify trends in existing data and consider implications of these to the organisation, raising risk concerns to the Programme team as soon as they are identified.
  • Write detailed and analytical reports based on sound data for funders, partners and other interested parties.
  • Lead the gathering, assimilation and data outputs needed to track achievement for all quarterly reports, steercoms and meetings.
  • Manage Data Analytics Interns as appropriate.
  • Any other ad hoc duties assigned by management and or leadership.


  • Facilitate the collection of accurate and timely data and evidence by building data management tools
  • Creates consolidated databases, processes and procedures for data
  • Detects data irregularities and inconsistencies, recognising risks and mitigating where necessary
  • Streamlines and optimizes business processes through data driven activity
  • Develops processes for effective data analysis
  • Share knowledge of data management tools with teams, guiding them to successfully manage their data and information
  • Works with teams to create insights and detail trends etc for the external market
  • Visualises data in a format that is accessible to all
  • Creates strong, supportive working relationships with internal teams
  • Works closely with funding partners to deliver on MI, audit and governance objectives
  • Plays an active leadership role driving success and culture of data led activity
