A large well-established community-based Pre-Primary School and Aftercare Centre in Durbanville is looking to appoint an experienced Centre and Business Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and lead the various teams in the business. This role is ideal for a strong operations-focused leader with experience in education, childcare or community-based organisations.
You will be responsible for managing staff, finances, administration, enrollments, facilities and regulatory compliance, while ensuring a safe, high-quality learning environment for children.
The school has approximately 800 learners and close to 80 staff members.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee the daily operations of the Pre-Primary and Aftercare Centre
- Lead and manage staff across both locations
- Ensure high standards of service delivery, safety and care
Strategic & Administrative Management
- Support the implementation of organisational strategy and growth plans
- Establish and maintain operational systems, policies and procedures
- Prepare operational reports and provide regular feedback to Trustees
Financial Management
- Prepare and manage the annual operational budget
- Monitor financial performance and manage debtors
- Oversee financial administration and reporting
Human Resource Management
- Manage recruitment, onboarding and staff development
- Oversee performance management processes
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation and HR policies
Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with parents, community stakeholders and partners
- Represent the organisation at relevant meetings and community engagements
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements including:
- WCED regulations
- Department of Social Development standards
- Labour and employment legislation
- Child protection and safety regulations
Facilities & Programme Oversight
- Oversee the maintenance and safety of the Centre’s facilities
- Ensure compliance with educational standards and curriculum requirements
- Manage enrollment processes and maintain accurate records
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably in Education
- Additional Business or Finance qualification advantageous
- Minimum 5 years senior management experience, ideally within an education or childcare environment
- Strong experience in operations management, financial oversight and team leadership
- Valid driver’s license
- Own reliable transport
