A large well-established community-based Pre-Primary School and Aftercare Centre in Durbanville is looking to appoint an experienced Centre and Business Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and lead the various teams in the business. This role is ideal for a strong operations-focused leader with experience in education, childcare or community-based organisations.

You will be responsible for managing staff, finances, administration, enrollments, facilities and regulatory compliance, while ensuring a safe, high-quality learning environment for children.

The school has approximately 800 learners and close to 80 staff members.

Key Responsibilities

     Operational Leadership

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Pre-Primary and Aftercare Centre
  • Lead and manage staff across both locations
  • Ensure high standards of service delivery, safety and care

     Strategic & Administrative Management

  • Support the implementation of organisational strategy and growth plans
  • Establish and maintain operational systems, policies and procedures
  • Prepare operational reports and provide regular feedback to Trustees

     Financial Management

  • Prepare and manage the annual operational budget
  • Monitor financial performance and manage debtors
  • Oversee financial administration and reporting

     Human Resource Management

  • Manage recruitment, onboarding and staff development
  • Oversee performance management processes
  • Ensure compliance with labour legislation and HR policies

     Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with parents, community stakeholders and partners
  • Represent the organisation at relevant meetings and community engagements

     Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements including:
    • WCED regulations
    • Department of Social Development standards
    • Labour and employment legislation
    • Child protection and safety regulations

     Facilities & Programme Oversight

  • Oversee the maintenance and safety of the Centre’s facilities
  • Ensure compliance with educational standards and curriculum requirements
  • Manage enrollment processes and maintain accurate records

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably in Education
  • Additional Business or Finance qualification advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years senior management experience, ideally within an education or childcare environment
  • Strong experience in operations management, financial oversight and team leadership
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own reliable transport
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
