A large African based retail business is seeking to employ a Business Analyst with retail/digital experience within the supply chain department, to be based in the client’s Cape Town Northern Suburbs offices.

This position will report to the Systems Manager: Non-Merchandise and play a significant role within the business by acting as the interface between the business, internal IT and other information technology suppliers.


  • Assess and define change requests received from internal departments in relation to business processes and systems.Provision of solutions and support for the implementation thereof.
  • Effectively manage change requests from business stakeholders
  • Respond to system incidents raised by the business while providing effective and timeous support to internal users on processes, systems and technology activities. Determine a corrective course of action and ensure that the incidents are resolved effectively and within reasonable time by Pepkor IT and/or other service providers.
  • Faciliate the business processes and systems enhancement process by;
  • Identify business process and/or systems gaps and/or record process changes request by the business
  • Follow the governance and prioritisation processes required by the company for change requests and projects respectively
  • Perform the full development life cycle in order to implement the process and system changes
  • Create and maintain a centralised library for all business processes and systems documentation (quality management)
  • Provision of detail docmentation of current information, data and solutions
  • Proactively source and benchmark business solutions; as well as contribute to business processes around system maintenance, change request management and project methodology


  • A working knowledge of business process mapping tools; MS Visio and ARIS
  • Must be highly proficient in latest versions of MS Office; Word & Excel at advanced level
  • Understanding/knowledge of project management methodologies; PMBOK
  • Understanding/knowledge of Business Analysis methodologies; BABOK
  • Commercial understanding of the retail systems environment
  • Implementation of business solutions and change management
  • Documenting and analysing informational data


  • Determine business solutions and assess them for both technical and business compatibility
  • Business and functional requirements elicitation
  • Presentation of business processes and system solutions to both software developers and the business
  • The ability to: Workshop and faciliate JAD sessions; Evaluate different business solution options and applying commercial acumen in the decision making process; Be highly proficient in testing methodology


  • Formal accredited qualification in Business Analytics is highly desirable.


  • Bachelors degree or National Diploma in Information Technology/Commercial
  • Affiliation to a professional institution for Business Analysis (IIBA)
  • Affiliation to a professional institution for Project Management



  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience as a Business Analyst with at least 2 years’ experience within the retail industry
  • Typical Business Analyst exposure; system analysis, business process development, including the faciliation of workshops, preparing documentation in accordance with BABOK methodology
  • System support exposure; maintaining an incident management process; analysing the nature of incidents, liaising with system developers in order to resolve incidents
  • Coordination of quality assurance and testing


  • Experience in mobile industry, financial and marketing
  • Thorough grasp of business fundamentals and strategic priorities
  • Writing business requirements, system requirements and functional specifications
  • Experience in software development
  • Experience in project management
  • Exposure to successful technology implementation and process projects

SALARY – R30 to R35k CTC/month, plus incentives
