Our client who specialise in geospatial software application development, consulting, training and support is seeking to employ an Operations and Service Delivery Manager on a permanent basis.

This multi-disciplinary software business focusses mostly on building applications for vertical markets such as precision agriculture, the space industry, biodiversity management and humanitarian services. The continued growth of this established small to medium business has increased the operational workload of the existing management team and therefore created the need to employ a fulltime Operations and Service Delivery Manager who will ensure the business is run smoothly and projects are delivered on time and in budget.

Purpose of the Job

  • Operations management: To enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of overall business operations and provide the necessary management support and information to the managing directors to sustain ongoing operations.
  • Service delivery management: To reduce the back office operational workload on the managing directors to allow them to generate sales and apply their technical expertise to develop and deliver products and services.

Operations management

  • Provide management with the operational information necessary to sustain and balance sales and production workloads to maintain quality and delivery standards
  • Ensure systematic, effective procedures are in place for staff on-boarding, HR management, resource scheduling and utilisation and all other aspects of operations
  • Considering that we are a remote, distributed team, ensure sufficient team communication and activities take place to build and maintain team spirit

Service delivery management

  • Work with MDs to plan projects during proposal development (costing, resource allocation, scheduling)
  • Set up projects on company systems
  • Implement project plans for planned and actual projects
  • Allocate resources
  • Manage resource performance and reporting; ensure staff are maintaining timesheets and reporting accurate progress; ensure project information is kept up to date and accurate
  • We currently operate according to Agile principles: ensure stand-ups, sprint planning and other Agile practices are conducted effectively
  • Report on project finances and progress
  • Communicate with project teams and MDs efficiently, accurately and regularly
  • Ultimately ensure projects are delivered on brief, on budget and on time
  • Communicate with clients  

Experience & Competence Required

  • Experience in business operations with an international exposure
  • Experience with consulting or software development project management 
  • Attention to detail, excellent administrative skills and superlative computer literacy
  • Experience with remote work tools and techniques
  • Excellent people management and communication skills
  • Excellent English Verbal and Written Communication Skills

To your advantage

  • Business degree
  • Financial management degree or experience
  • Project management qualification or professional registration
  • Ability to coach and guide executives and personnel
  • The client currently use Sage accounting for timesheets and project financials, OmniPlan for project management, along with some Google sheets. Familiarity with these on their own and integrated will be to your advantage. We are also open to adopting new and better ideas and systems. 

Location - Randburg, Gauteng or any other location in South Africa, as long as you have a distraction-free work environment with reliable, redundant power and high bandwidth internet. If you are in Gauteng the ability to work in our Randburg office will be an advantage.

Salary – R350 to R720k, dependant on proven track record and experience.
