An established South African software solutions business with a global client footprint is seeking to employ a Business Analyst with experience in Geospatial/Mining/Environmental solutions in a permanent role. This position will be based in Cape Town, but travel across various international territories will be required on a regular basis.
The role's focus areas are documenting business processes and user requirements, collating GIS and business data, coordinating product configuration and delivery, and training users. Working with a team of project managers, business analysts, software developers, IT professionals, and other industry experts, the primary responsibility of this role is to interact directly with the clients, which operate largely in the mining, renewable energy, and oil & gas space, to implement land management software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- User requirements analysis and gathering
- Design and documentation of client business processes
- Configuration and testing of the implemented software products
- Requirements gathering and testing of custom reports and dashboards
- Assist with data gathering, data mapping, and imports
- Writing user manuals
- Conduct client user training
- Conduct client User Acceptance Testing
- Spending time on-site with clients to conduct workshops, training, UATs, and provide user support
Requirements
- Degree in GIS, Environmental/Earth Sciences, Urban and Regional Planning, Information Systems or similar fields
- 5-7 years experience as a GIS Professional, Software Implementation Consultant, or Business Analyst
- Business process documentation experience, including using flowchart and diagram creation tools such as Lucid Charts/MS Visio
- Client-facing consulting and workshop facilitation/presentation experience
- Understanding of GIS software and data (ArcGIS)
- Understanding of the software development life cycle
- Understanding of basic project management principles
- Advanced English language skills (verbal and written)
Salary: R50,000 – R65,000 /month, dependent on skills and experience
