A large mid-tier auditing, tax, outsourcing and advisory firm in Cape Town is seeking to employ a Senior Audit Manager in their Financial Services division.

This dynamic firm is a leader in their chosen markets, providing assurance, tax, advisory and outsourcing services to dynamic organisations, including listed companies, large privately held businesses and private equity-backed organisations. They also have significant capabilities in the public sector market.

Job Description

The position is based in their Cape Town office. The purpose of the role is to strategically guide audit teams with regards to approach and client relationships and to manage the audit team, provide direction, supervision and review for each audit assignment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage an audit portfolio of insurance, asset management and unit trust clients in South Africa and Southern Africa
  • Grow client portfolio and identify cross selling opportunities
  • Lead and project manage audit engagements within agreed timelines and scope
  • Manage the audit budget and billings and cash collection process during audit engagements
  • Management of Work in Progress
  • Manage and lead audit team members (including overseeing team productivity)
  • Team Performance assessments
  • Enabling employees through mentoring (formal and informal), training and accountable for the overall quality of engagements in terms of the firm’s quality and risk management policies, procedures and methodologies as well as industry regulated policies
  • Accountable for the final file review in preparation for partner sign off after the completion of the audit engagements
  • Manage client expectations and relationships
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge about firm standards, policies and regulations

Requirements:

  • Qualified CA (SA), IRBA Attest Registered
  • Sound experience with life insurance/asset management/unit trusts
  • Proven history of satisfactory quality/cold reviews
  • Good business developer with a good network within the financial services sector in South Africa
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years' experience within a similar role
  • Proven track record of working on Financial Services Audits
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent client relationships
  • Ability to maintain the highest technical and professional standards
  • Seen by others as a role model within the audit profession.
  • Proven ability to manage people and clients
  • Excellent technical knowledge (IFRS, ISA's, Companies Act, and industry related relevant legislation, guides, including FAIS, Financial Markets Act, Insurance Acts and Solvency Assessment and Management (SAM))
