Great opportunity for a Payroll Manager to join a well-established company in Somerset West. They are seeking for a confident individual who can make an immediate high value impact, minimum of 2 years management experience and conversant on the relevant payroll systems.

The company has grown from a handful of temporary employees contracted to a modest customer base, to large employee pool and well-developed client base. Duties and Skills

  • Perform all related payroll duties for clients using Pastel Payroll, Pastel 300 or even VIP.
  • Manage client portfolio and team of 5 payroll clerks.
  • Comfortable and efficient client liaison.
  • Performing audits on payroll master data integrity.
  • Responsible for the testing and implementation of all statutory amendments affecting employee earnings.
  • Ensuring systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with contracts (union and non-union).
  • Balancing the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Ensure Statutory payroll Reporting to regulatory bodies is accurate and on-time (SARS tax, ETI, , UIF, Skills levies etc).
  • Maintaining and ensuring budgets are accurate, annual, in accordance to the timetable, according to departmental, divisional plan and monthly reviews.
  • Maintaining payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures and update relevant stakeholders on changes.
  • Managing regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)


  • 2+ years’ payroll and people management experience.
  • Degree or diploma in preferably taxation or financial beneficial, or qualified by experience.
  • Must be proficient on Pastel Payroll, Pastel 300 People or even VIP.
  • Excellent payroll compliance experience.
  • Must be well-spoken - Skilled communicator with strong verbal and written abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of South African Tax Legislation.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines.
  • MS Excel and MS Word literacy required at advanced level.
  • Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans.

Salary – R15k to R25k ctc pm depending on qualification and experience.
