Our client is recruiting for an energetic Junior Bookkeeper to join them at their offices in Goodwood.

The candidate will be responsible for the bookkeeping and administrative duties, working directly under the accountant and general manager. The ideal candidate will have accounting system experience, Excel skills, and 3+ years’ bookkeeping and accounting experience.

The company is a professional business telecoms solutions and equipment provider based in Cape Town, with a service area across South Africa. They provide telecommunications consulting, call savings and telecoms solutions, including PABX systems and business VoIP products for small, medium and corporate organisations.

Duties and Responsibilities        

  • Capturing transactions on the electronic accounting system and on any other necessary systems (data entry)
  • Processing accounting payables and payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Creditors’ Statement and selected Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Capture Supplier Purchase Orders (Stock Ordering)
  • Capture Stock GRV & responsible for Stock Control
  • Prepare and capture Reseller Agreements and Welcome Letters
  • Assist with Payroll, EMP201 and VAT returns on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Month end journals
  • All other processing to Trial balance level
  • Preparation of year end schedules to support the preparation of annual financial statements as well as other admin duties
  • Sorting and filing of financial records
  • Provide administrative support and reporting to finance management
  • Airtime Topup, Debtors invoicing and Bank processing (only as back-up if required for Debtors Clerk. Not part of core role)

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric + Qualified by experience
  • Accounting/Bookkeeping qualification advantageous
  • Experience: 3+ years related bookkeeping and accounting experience – Preferably on Sage 200 or Pastel Partner

Computer Skills

  • Working knowledge of account software packages, Pastel Evolution (Sage 200), Pastel Partner and Sage Payroll  will be advantageous
  • Excellent Computer literacy (MS Office – Word, Excel & Outlook)

Salary – R10-R20k depending on qualification and experience
