A successful privately-owned group specializing in the design, manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and servicing of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems and equipment for the supermarket, food, petro-chemical, and agricultural industries is seeking to recruit and appoint a Junior Accountant at their offices based at Samrand.

Role Description

We are looking for a capable and experienced candidate with a minimum of 3 years accounting experience. Advantages will be completed SAIPA or SAICA articles, accounting systems experience, Excel intermediate to advanced capability, stock and stock system experience.

Key Responsibilities and duties

The accountant will be responsible for the following:

  • Accounting function including capturing of source documentation
  • Reconciliation of accounting records to third party statements (debtors, creditors,
  • bank)
  • Reporting to the financial accountant and financial manager
  • Completion of VAT201 returns and preparation of VAT reconciliations
  • Treatment of VAT on transactions
  • Correct accounting and payment of supplier invoices
  • Cash Requirement Forecasting
  • Timeous preparation of sales invoices
  • Liaising with suppliers and clients and solving queries on account
  • Collection of debtors
  • Liaising with SARS and financial institutions
  • Dealing with audit queries and requests
  • Inter-company loan reconciliations
  • Sourcing and completion of vendor applications
  • Review and management of all staff reimbursement claims
  • Open projects on system and project admin
  • Loading budgets
  • Invoicing
  • Allocation of costs to projects
  • Filling system
  • Closing projects
  • Ad hoc tasks as requested from management

  • Upholding of the Company Confidentiality Agreement
  • Compliance with all relevant legislations
  • Effective management and continuity of all related activities
  • All performance related tasks as required

Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be someone who has the following qualifications, experience and characteristics:

  • Degree in Accounting / Finance or in process.
  • 2 to 5 years’ accounting experience.
  • Completed SAIPA/SAICA articles not required but advantageous.
  • Candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.

Salary

  • R18k to R25k per month
