Fantastic opportunity for a Financial Controller to join an international consulting, digital services and software business based in Cape Town.

They operate in the UK, Europe, India and South Africa – and across six divisions – Software, IT & Networks, People Solutions, Customer Management, Government Services and Specialist Services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the end to end financial controllership function for all the entities within South Africa, and may also include controllership oversight of profit/cost centres in other geographies.  The controllership function will heavily incorporate control over the statutory reporting function, project cost monitoring and control, cash flow management, budgetary, general financial control and the procure to pay process including vendor management.

Authorisation and Controllership

  • Responsible for reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Monthly input to SAP and Axiom financial systems
  • Management of the invoicing and cash cycle for external clients
  • Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner
  • Reviews and recommends finance integrations and controls
  • System transition
  • Accounts payable and procurement policy
  • Ownership of the supplier vendor function in accordance with Group and South African requirements
  • General ledger management / control
  • Tax computations and management
  • Management and liaison of yearly audit process
  • Responsible for statutory reporting

Annual income tax returns

  • Provisional tax returns
  • Monthly VAT review
  • Dividend withholding tax
  • To be a trusted source for tax scenario planning
  • And any other tax requirement that may relate to the South African business as part of an international group companies to ensure we are fully compliant

Employee Share Trust responsibilities

  • To assume the full mandate and fiduciary responsibilities as the Company Trustee
  • Manage the administration process of the units in accordance with the Trust rules
  • Assist with review of Trust deed and Trust rules
  • Review and submission of Trust minutes to Trustees for approval and dividend calculation
  • Maintenance of Trust financial records, including Annual Financial statements etc

SA Reporting

  • Monthly close reviews and attestation
  • Cosec oversight/review/compliance
  • Dividend distribution preparation
  • Transfer price reviews
  • Grants review
  • Balance Sheet Group Reporting
  • BBBEE compliance and guidance
  • All relevant taxes

Implementation of Guidance and Policy

  • Implements, maintains and manages the cascading of all relevant policies & procedures to team members
  • Reports all health & safety incidents to the Occupational Health and Safety Officer on site
  • Ensure safe working practices are adopted by themselves and other employees in their work areas to maintain a safe working environment for employees and clients. These are defined in the staff handbook.

Minimum Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years plus financial accounting, post qualification experience
  • Extensive experience with financial management, accounting practices, grants and taxation
