A leading financial services group is looking to employ a financial accountant on a short-term basis. This role will focus on financial management and reporting for this group. Preference will be given to employment equity candidates.

Job Purpose

The Financial Manager will be responsible for the financial management and statutory financial reporting for the Group (as required). The incumbent will have one direct report (accountant).

Key Outcomes

The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Financial Manager.

  • Financial and MIS reporting on profit and levers
  • Involvement in the month-end reporting, forecast and budget processes
  • Assisting to align/implementation with the 3-year strategic plan, by supporting business partners
  • Risk Reporting and Governance Responsibilities (including reporting to various licence holders)
  • Financial controls
  • Pro-active engagement on cost allocation (expense management), value of new business and embedded value
  • Loan account management
  • Biannual reporting of ROGEV
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders e.g. outsource providers, licence holders and auditors
  • Manco Reporting, including ASISA, FSCA and SARB reporting
  • FSB Capital Adequacy Requirement
  • Involvement in general company and Group projects, e.g. participation in the IFRS 17 and SWIFT programmes
  • Identifying BI opportunities
  • Ad hoc financial tasks

Qualifications

  • CA(SA) with 3+ years post articles work experience, or
  • BCom plus 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Valuations experience and Financial Services Articles would be an advantage
