Fantastic growth opportunity for a Debtors Clerk to join a testing laboratory in Cape Town.

The ideal candidate should be experienced in the debtors clerk function, must be tech savvy, have solid system experience and good working on new systems. We are looking for a bright individual who wishes to learn and grown within this company that’s well-established but expanding.

The candidate will be responsible for the full creditors function and related duties of their practice accounts. They are looking for ethically sound candidates, wanting to perform tasks the right way first time round and someone who wants a long-term career at the hotel. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to uphold the accounting department’s creditors function and be proactive in improving current processes.

You will be working in a professional, knowledgeable, committed and friendly work environment in Cape Town.

Duties:

  • Daily debtors update to Assistant Financial Manager;
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, accuracy, and proper codes;
  • Record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers;
  • Code documents according to company procedures;
  • Compile reports pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, accounts receivable;
  • Debit, credit, accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software;
  • Operate computers programmed with accounting software to generate, record, store, debtors information;
  • Receive, record, payments from debtors;
  • Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records.
  • Assist the Financial Manager with monthly management reports.
  • Report to Financial Manager and MD regarding any anomaly in the finances department.

Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Accounting will be an advantage.
  • 2+ years debtors experience.
  • Bookkeeping experience will be an advantage.
  • Computer Literacy - Microsoft Word (mail merge), Excel (intermediate level), Xero (comfortably troubleshoot).
  • Excellent Afrikaans & English communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Team player that can work independently.
  • Work efficiently under pressure.
  • Deadline and target driven.

Salary – R12 000pm to R16 000pm (negotiable and depending on experience).
