Debtor and Stock Accountant

Excellent growth opportunity for a Junior Accountant to join a rapidly expanding business within the alternative energy sphere. This business has been expanding nationally and recently internationally as well and they have made their mark by delivering high tech solutions for the telecommunications industry in the form of high-tech battery solutions.

The company sells batteries, monitoring and other equipment into South Africa, Africa and other places around the world. They also perform testing, rejuvenation and stock management of batteries mainly for the telecommunications industry.

The incumbent will be responsible the debtors’ and stock administration duties as well as for assisting with the accounting function. The ideal candidate will have advanced Excel skills, Pastel and/or Sage experience and Pastel Evolution will be an advantage.

The firm has grown by large margins over the last few years and they require an individual that wants to grow within a team of skilled individuals who are leading the way in battery tech by way of their predictive test, recovery and management solutions. They deliver only the best and they have close relationships with their employees and their customers.

The post reports directly to the Financial Director and is part of a finance team.

Duties and Responsibilities       

Debtors

  • Assisting with credit vetting
  • Capturing of debtor information
  • Preparation of quotes on Sage
  • Invoicing of debtors
  • Monthly reconciliations
  • Sending statements
  • Contacting debtors to collect overdue amounts
  • Resolving issues on debtor accounts
  • Weekly reporting on actions taken on overdue amounts

Stock

  • Maintaining stock sheets for all our regions
  • Checking for duplicate serial numbers on receiving notes
  • Checking for duplicate serial numbers on stock sheets
  • Capturing of test results onto stock sheet
  • Checking pallet movement sheets
  • Checking sequence numbers of documents in folders
  • Reconciliation of theoretical stock to actual stock
  • Investigation of differences
  • Weekly reporting on status of stock

Scrap

  • Preparation of scrapping notes
  • Preparation of scrapping documentation
  • Reconciliation of scrapping documentation to scrap certificates

Payroll

  • Checking of budgeted versus actual expense claims
  • Capture of monthly expenses for different regions
  • Checking of forecasted budgets for the different regions

Other

  • Comparison of budgeted income and expenses to actuals
  • Investigation of differences

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Certificate, Diploma or degree in finance – NQF 5 or 6
  • Experience: 3 – 5 years related experience
  • Foreign currency experience

Computer Skills

  • Sage Evolution experience will be advantageous, alternatively Pastel, Sage or similar
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel
  • MS Word

Skills required

  • Working on Sage Evolution

Salary – R18k to R20k pm
