Exciting growth opportunity at medium tier audit and accounting firm for an audit manager in the Cape Winelands. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious CA(SA) to join a practice with an excellent track record and growth potential.

This firm of Chartered Accountants (SA) and Registered Auditors offer a variety of services with the aim of continuously looking for cost effective, value added solutions to their clients’ business needs.

The candidate should preferably be a CA(SA) with the intention of remaining in assurance.

The firm will consider the below candidate profiles:

  • Newly qualified chartered accountant with 2 years post-article experience in auditing (experience in managing engagement and trainees)
  • The candidate should be willing to register as candidate auditor with IRBA to work towards becoming a registered auditor or be in the process of such
  • Aspiring chartered accountant with post-articles experience in audit will also be considered

The audit manager will, in summary, have the following responsibilities:

Managing (including billing) a client portfolio consisting of individual taxpayers, companies, close corporations and trusts for which we provide the following services:

  • Full Audits
  • SME Audits
  • Attorney trust audits
  • Estate agent audits
  • Independent Reviews
  • Preparation of financial statements
  • Managing and training a team SAICA and SAIPA staff members

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Produce client reports (AFS, Minutes, Certificates, Management letters etc.)
  • Propose and finalise audit opinions.
  • Audit assignment budget planning and management.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of performance in relation to budget.
  • Conduct full audit file reviews and related reports to ensure the relevant files are ready for sign off.
  • Perform tax return reviews.
  • Manage resourcing and plotting of staff members on audit engagements.
  • Work allocations as required by individual audit assignments.
  • Ensure audit planning documentation is completed.
  • Approve time-sheets.
  • Perform billings and manage WIP.
  • Performance management of staff members including, continuously providing feedback to staff.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff members (where required).
  • Maintain excellent client relationships.

Experience essentials:

  • Be able to understand and communicate in Afrikaans
  • Management experience in audit:
    • Need to have managed engagements with at least 3 engagement members
    • Need to have managed more than one engagement concurrently
    • Ideally, have had responsibility for managing at least 5 or more trainees
    • Senior staff (not yet management) will also be considered if from bigger firm (Top 10), but need experience in managing trainees on engagements

Requirements:

  • Qualified CA(SA).
  • Registered Auditor advantageous.
  • Minimum 1 year post-articles experience (ideally at least 2 years)
  • Completed articles, preferably with supervisory experience.
  • A thorough knowledge of IFRS for SME's; IFRS; ISA; and taxation.
  • Experience with CaseWare.

Salary:

  • R25,000 to R45,000 pm (negotiable depending on experience and qualifications)
