Accountant (Property/Homeowners Association)

An established and large security estate located in Somerset West is employing an Accountant to lead & manage the Associations Accounting function. This permanent Home Owners Accountant role will report to the Estate Manager and is responsible for processing and managing the Association’s finances and ensuring sound financial administration.

The job incumbent is also responsible for actioning and monitoring the Association’s financial operations i.e., payment authorisation, reconciliation, and alignment to project payment schedules. Ensure payment deviation and over-expenditure is reported and that the Association’s financial and operational systems are effective. 

The job incumbent contributes towards the effective decision making and service delivery within the HOA. The position fulfils a key role to support the other roles in the office to ensure continued service delivery.

Requirements

  • Formal tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance will be required.
  • Degree in Finance/Accounting will be highly desirable.
  • Min 2 years post qualification commercial accounting work experience.
  • Experience in property or with Homeowners’ Association will be a major benefit.
  • Knowledge of Xero Accounting Software
  • Proficiency in Pastel and Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

  • Perform full monthly bookkeeping & accounting functions.
  • Reconcile control accounts.
  • Handle payroll function and EMP 501 reconciliations
  • Prepare working documents and run various management accounting reports
  • Compile financial statements.
  • Debtors and Creditors Management
  • Liaise and coordinate with SARS.
  • Cash control
  • Communicate with clients.
  • Manage statutory returns.

Other Ad hoc Responsibilities

  • Attend Trustee Meetings and deal with Queries on Management Accounts
  • Financial Clerical and Administrative support to Manager and co-workers.
  • Maintain an orderly Filing system to ensure traceability in respect of all transactions, records, and repo.

Salary: R30,000 to R40,000 per month, negotiable and dependant on qualifications, skills and experience.
