An established farming and food manufacturing business based in Hermanus, Western Cape is seeking to employ a Mainteance Fitter on a permanet basis. They are looking for a hard-working, qualified fitter to fabricate, fit, assemble and maintain the structural components of various mechanical systems, especially pumps.
To succeed, you should have substantial knowledge and experience on pumps and be detail-oriented, focused, and adept at interpreting drawings. You must demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
The candidate must collaborate with other technical team members on large-scale projects.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for constructing and assembling mechanical systems.
- Maintain pumps, drum filters, and other mechanical equipment
- Optimise equipment availability
- Respond to breakdowns immediately.
- Use welding equipment and power tools to manufacture structural components.
- Inspect fabricated components to ensure that they are correct.
- Install new mechanical equipment.
- Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support decision-making.
- Create suitable maintenance schedules and perform system maintenance accordingly.
- Carrying out root cause analysis on recurring problems
- Replace damaged or defective structural components as needed.
- Order spares as required.
- Perform maintenance on generators as required.
- Adhere to all work-site safety rules and regulations.
- Manage a small team
- Mentor apprentices
Requirements
- Minimum N3 Mechanical with accredited Trade test qualification.
- Proven experience working as a qualified fitter, minimum 5 years.
- Ample knowledge of pumps
- The ability to use hand and power tools.
- The ability to interpret drawings for mechanical systems.
- The ability to concentrate for extended periods.
- Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning abilities.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.
- Exceptional welding and mechanical skills.
- Attention to detail
- Must be willing to perform standby and work overtime, and might be required at short notice.
- Must be willing to work outside in all weather if required.
- Driver’s license with own transport.
- Any experience with industrial generators and seamers will be an advantage.
Salary: R30,000 to R40,000 / month, dependant on skills and experience
